Characters

Assassin

- Phase Bomb: no longer a left click skill to avoid the door bug.

Barbarian

Characters

- Found a workaround to allow all 'mace' type items to work with skills that require one, including clubs and hammers.

Amazon

- Bloodlust is now an innate.
- New skill: Balefire.
- Bacchanalia: bug fixed - no longer reduces spell damage at full life.
- Bloodstorm: increased missile movement speed.

Assassin

- Broadside: slightly increased lockout timer.
- New skill: Storm Cloud Sentry replaces Nova Bomb.
- New skill: Fireball Sentry replaces Immolation Bomb.
- Scorpion Blade: increased range.

- Phase Bomb can now be targetted at the ground.

Barbarian

- Bloodhatred: removed skill lockout effect.
- Shower of Rocks: fixed description.

Druid

- Poison Flash: now considered a melee skill.
- Summon Acid Fiends: removed green colour.
- Thorn Wall: now correctly displays attack rating.
- Wildfire: increased damage and range.

Necromancer

- Overhauled the necromancer trees... lots of changes. There are now separate melee and crossbow trees, and the annoying totems were mostly removed.
- Summon Shadows: increased elemental damage bonus.
- Summon Veil King: increased attack range to enable it to attack over minions.
- Summon Jinni: removed (bugged) corpse animation.

Paladin

- Hammerstrike: the hammer can now drop on AoE targets as well; fixed issue where the AoE dealt only 1/2 damage.
- Ring of Light: ring diameter reduced so it stands right in melee range.
- Ring of Light: duration locked at 3 seconds; damage increased.
- Rising Dawn replaces Vindicate; Vindicate is now an innate.

- Divine Apparition: slightly reduced freeze length.

- Rapture is now blue and has a new cast sound.
- Holy Armor renamed to Sacred Armor and is now blue.
- Hymn is now blue.

Sorceress

- Arcane Torrent: now correctly pierces.

Other

- Reduced graphics load on Cataclysm and Immolation Bomb.
- Nova Bomb and Immolation Bomb can now target a spot on the ground.

- BFG83K: fixed attack rating showing up. (Only one person noticed? Grats. But there will be endless qq threads about the smallest detail anyway, if this detail somehow makes characters LESS powerful)
- Demonic Speed: changed animation.
- Disintegrate: fixed description.
- Feral Strike, Ravage and Thorn Field now properly don't work with throwing knives.
- Shadow Avatar: damage reduced. (Yes, it was OP and you didn't know it, lol)
- Baal Rune Curse: changed animation.

Items

- Due to the replacement of the corresponding skills, existing items with Unholy Armor, Blood Tide Totem, Mana Tide Totem, Elemental Totem or Totembound Guardians on them may end up with a different skill that will likely not work. Reroll the item to fix it.

Base items

- Increased the drop rate of Warp Blades.

Specials

- Removed Signets of Gold from the game due to the overflow bug.

Magic and rare affixes

A few changes due to the replacement of the corresponding skills:
- Oskill Blood Tide Totem on paladin helms is now Summon Rampagor.
- Elemental Totem, Mana Tide Totem and Totembound Guardians are now available as necromancer oskills.
- Nova Bomb, Immolation Bomb are now available as assassin oskills.

The following items may morph: find them again to get back their old skill bonus.
- Elemental Totem (sorceress orbs)
- Mana Tide Totem (druid helms)
- Unholy Armor (level-up proc on belts)

- Fixed the bug that caused +1-4 druid skills to not show up on daggers.

- Elemental Totem: Red Vex' Idol.
- Immolation Bomb: Cinadide's Bellows.

- The Warmage's Wrath set was split in two: the new Warmage set (fire) and The Mysteries (melee). You will need to refind your Warmage pieces to go with the new set, though the old pieces still combine to form the old set if you already have them.

Monsters

- Monster defense rate reduced to make non-dex builds viable.

- Veterans now correctly no longer spawn in Hatred.
- Daystar: reduced spell damage by 25%, reduced maximum pack size.
- Diablo: increased melee damage.
- Nihlathak: no longer drops exp signets in Hatred.

Levels

- Reduced monster density in key areas.
- Removed Daystars from the maggot lair.

Challenges

- Fixed the necromancer LC2 award to give +1 max totems.
- Mirror Mirror: increased chance to 1%.

Misc

- Reduced early game (<9) exp gain.
- Halved rune TC chance to cascade down to lower TCs.
- Reduced rune itemlevels.
- Removed drops from Groupies due to complaints.

1.E9 PRERELEASE 2 -> 1.E9

Characters

Amazon

- Fire Elementals: removed cold resist penalty.
- Spirit of Vengeance: gave ED% back to the aura. Now SoV is strictly the best choice for 3/4 main amazon builds. Otherwise you might have had to think about which uberskill is the best for you, but now it is much simpler: Pick SoV. This allows you to feel good because you picked the best skill, without the annoying part of having to decide which it is.

Barbarian

- Bloodhatred: fixed description.
- Shower of Rocks: reduced mana cost.
- Stormblast: reduced mana cost.

Necromancer

- Reverted second xbow skill back to Widowmaker (the buffed version).
- Summon Jinni: increased Hellfire Aura radius.

Sorceress

- Ice Elementals: removed fire resist penalty.

Other

- Lolsummons: now LMB-able; added fake energy.
(If you're a newbie, this line has just told you that you have no business being here. Sorry.)
- Dragon Shot: renamed to Fragmentation Shot; increased radius; fixed bug that caused it to shoot only half the intended amount of nova missiles; doubled flat magic damage; updated description.
(Effect of this fix: more reliable at the edges, more than double damage near the centre)

- Removed Crystalline from high-end +max damage affixes due to bows/throwing/xbows.
- Added Fragmentation Shot as a (common) nexcrossbow oskill.

Uniques

- Hand of Rathma: fixed useless stat.
- Sunbearer: fixed proc.

Monsters

- Reduced the maximum group size of Djinns, Ifrits, Hivehosts, Tempest Mages, Sons of Lucion, Gothi, Undead Counselors, Plaguebringers and Blood Stones to reduce lag.
- Shadowgate Totem: now has a footprint of 2x2.
- Son of Lucion: halved chance to spawn poison cloud.

Levels

- Reduced monster density in the River of Flame, Maggot Lair, Act 3 Sewers, Kurast, the jungle areas, Worldstone Keep, Frozen Tundra and the entire Act 4.

Uberquests

- Made Akarat explode when you summon him. Hell, he will die before you summon him. You just summon the charm.

Misc

- Reduced exp gain by 15%.
- Signet of Skill capped at 3.

You may see these in select areas. They are not hostile unless you come too close and startle them, then they eat your face. Beware...

- Added a chance to avoid damage to various monsters.

- Mephisto: fixed erroneously low monster level, is now 40-90-121.
- Diablo: fixed erroneously low monster level, is now 50-95-121; reduced number of Blast Wave hits.
- Baal: fixed erroneously low monster level, is now level 60-100-121.
- Nihlathak: increased monster level to 81-108-121.

- Revamped Baal fight.
* Instead of clones, Baal comes with 'shardspawn', which can be killed but will leave slow moving energy runes that make you very brittle if they hit you.
* Baal skill set changed: scatter energy runes, summon shardspawn, Wrath, homing lava ball.
* Added Pearl of Wisdom drop from the Infernal Contraption to inform players about the energy runes.

- The Smith: increased damage.
- The Countess: added 'cursed' and 'maggots' boss modifiers.

- Armageddon Knight: fixed Zen Bolt doing 0 damage.

- Black Ice Demon: now pierces lightning resistance on higher difficulties.

- Fixed bug where all succubus types could not spawn physical immune.


Levels

- The following dungeons are now level 121 on Destruction difficulty and can therefore drop sacred uniques and sets:
-- Act 3 Durance of Hate Level 3.
-- Act 4 Chaos Sanctuary.
-- Act 5 Throne Room and Worldstone Keep.
Beware, this also means the monsters are harder!


Heroics

- Greatly reduced the size of the Stony Tomb Level 1 heroic level; increased Quov Tsin chance accordingly.
- Improved drop quality of heroic level monsters.

- Bull Prince Rodeo: Hoof Stomp now ignores defense; his normal attack now knocks back.


Challenges

- Veteran Challenge
Near the end of each Act in Terror and Destruction difficulty, you may randomly find a group of special monsters. Kill them in Terror and they will drop exactly one token. Cube all tokens with your class charm to get a bonus.

- Slayer Challenge
Kill Act bosses in Terror or Destruction. They will drop a token in addition to their regular drop. Cube all tokens, but include one of the Prime Evil tokens 3 times (eg. Andariel, Duriel, Mephisto/Mephisto/Mephisto, Diablo, Baal) to

get a Signet of Skill.

- Level Challenge 2
Simply kill Primus (Rathma Square) in Terror difficulty and cube your class charm with a perfect gem for a bonus. Also, you need to do this before level 90.

- To make the Black Road Challenge (BRC) viable in Terror difficulty, King Koth, Tran Athulua and Fauztinville are now level 80 in Terror, down from 90-105. Additionally, Tran Athulua and Fauztinville monsters have the same stat% in Terror as in Hatred instead of boosted stats.

- To make the Level Challenge 2 viable in Terror difficulty, the Rathma Square uberlevel is now level 80 in Terror, down from 95 and you gain no experience there in Terror.


Minigames
Newly introduced in 1.E9, these are a collection of 'tasks' that result in a max skill level bonus.

- Witch Blood
Find the Countess in Terror difficulty. Kill her and cube your charm with an Eth rune (r05) for a bonus. By the way... the Countess dungeon's inhabitants are a bit unusual this time round.

- Crowned
Witches appear in specific areas and do not want to be disturbed. If you come too close, you are in trouble. This minigame is active on Terror difficulty and requires you to find a witch in any Act except Act 1. (This will
not work on Act 1 witches). SLOWLY creep closer and see if a glowing star appears on your character. If so, cube your class charm with a Thul rune (r10). But be careful: too close and you're witch food.

- They Have Windows In Hell
In Act 4, you can find stained glass windows. Break one of these windows on Terror or Destruction difficulty and cube your class charm with a Hel rune (r15) while affected by the swirl effect to get a bonus.

- Mirror Mirror
In Act 5 Terror or Destruction difficulty, go to the final fight with Baal and kill his shardspawn minions. Only his minions! An average of 250 kills later, you will get swirlies. Cube your class charm with a Lem rune (r20)
for a bonus.


Uberquests

- Added a high chance to avoid damage and poison length reduction in Destruction difficulty to the following bosses:
-- Tal Rasha
-- King Koth
-- Akarat
-- Avatar of Zakarum
-- Bull Prince Rodeo
-- Belial
-- Quov Tsin
-- Astrogha

- Duncraig: massively increased Sacred drop rate (x4 when an item is rolled)


Drop rates

- All Act bosses and Nihlathak should now drop only uniques and runes.

- Enabled Signets of Greater Gold, Greater Experience and Learning to drop.
Low level monsters: 66% Gold, 33% Experience.
High level monsters: 50% Gold, 25% Experience, 10% Greater Gold, 10% Greater Experience, 5% Learning.


- The Smith has a signet drop bias.
- Nihlathak has 50% chance to drop a Signet of Learning in Hatred, always drops one in Terror and drops 3 in Destruction.


Misc

- Greatly reduced cost of mystic orbs.
- Greatly reduced cost of reagents. (OMG something in the game costs money, the horror!)
- Increased the power of experience signets.
- Reduced experience gain after level 116.

- Book of Summoning is now 1x1.

- Reduced the speed of the Punisher Nova trap.

1.D9c -> 1.E9 RC

Changes in the RC marked in yellow.

Characters

- New block paradigm: all shields have 0% block; class-specific shields have 1% block. However, characters have an innate block rate: amazon, assassin, sorceress = 4%; druid: 3%; paladin, necromancer: 2%; barbarian: 1%. Also, Lionheart and Baneblade give +1% block, and Trap Rat Form gives +4%.
The following skills can now be mapped under the left click:
- Bloodlust

Barbarian

- Eagle Stance: nerf reverted: heal bonus again based on soft points because I forgot people do not want to put more than 1 point into an active defensive skill unless it makes you invincible, and even then. This one only makes you half invincible.
- Kraken Stance: corrected description.
- Shower of Rocks: improved power of the attack rating curse.
- Thundergod: reduced nova frequency to prevent permastun effect.
- Wolf Companion: +1 wolf per 5 levels; fixed targetting issue with the curse; removed erroneous AR display.

Other

- Body of the Savior: halved life and damage due to overflow.

why? why did you replace apo? no! so, that's the reason why i will quit.
i finally found a concept that totally fits my playstyle, is something individual and really fun, my own personal creation and you destroy it. god damn. hate.
with reduction of energy factor of UE, i finally can forget about oskill sorc. thanks.

A. You can use your old oskill items.

B. Level 70 Apoc didn't really do much more damage than level 30 due to diminishing returns, but it sure cost a hell of a lot more mana. This gave rise to 'oskills suck' type replies. Now it still does like 75% of its original damage at a third of the mana cost.

well, anyway, i was happy with what it was. i liked my uber-poser-lvl-70-apocalypse just to show off. and it worked great with feedback damage. apo until mana orb is empty, cast maxed mana sweep: everything dead.
maybe it does 75% damage with 1/3 mana cost, but you will have maybe lvl 30 apocalypse (only the magister) and not lvl 70, and so damage will be a lot lower than before.
maybe uber fcr-aposorc-is possible now, but not what i was aiming for in my project. hm....

I made some calculations over in your oskill thread. It does almost 80% of its damage at level 35 as opposed to 70, but at half the mana. Replace that Bartuc's with something useful and you come out ahead.

The reason it was replaced is because the extremely high spell level resulted in insane mana costs without really adding much to damage, making the skill actually less useful. (Mana Sweep... yeah... casting this every other turn doesn't make you an Apoc sorc anymore)

yeah, read it, now it should finally be freed of casting mana sweep every second. but as backup =)
didnt know about the diminishing returns thingy of apo, sorry for that.
thought damage would just be 1/2 while 1/2 mana costs, but i'll go on tomorrow, at first : time for bed!

Gemwords, Jewelwords Runewords.... so much to learn, my fragil little mind might explode... to think that a mod like this changes the whole factor of diablo 2 is a bit insane... damn then again.. crazy in a fun kind of way, you should think of contacting blizzard, your ideas are pure genius.

I played Median 2008 last December and was so overwhelmed and discouraged by all the new content that I quit. Several months later, I came back and started playing MXL and all those crazy concepts finally sank in. It took a long time.
