Characters

Paladin

- Retaliate: window of opportunity now lasts 5 seconds, up from 2.
- Merkabah: damage reduced, but hit rate increased, and now gains increased radius per level.

Sorceress

- Hex: corrected skill description; now lasts 5 seconds, up from 2.

1.D9 -> 1.D9b

Characters

Barbarian

- Spirits now have slightly less life at higher character levels due to overflow.
- Shamanic Trance: reduced life bonus due to overflow.

1.A9c -> 1.D9

Characters

- Damage synergies completely removed. This is compensated by the energy buff below.
- Diminishing returns curve on spell damage is much flatter, avoiding the discouraging 1/4 at high skill levels.
- Energy bonus to spell damage has a flatter curve, meaning more damage at higher energy values.
- Mana costs now increase at 50% their previous rate.
- Reduced inert duration of sacrifice effects.
- Greatly increased cast speed of sorcs and druids with staves and attack speed of barbs with 2h weapons.

Amazon

- Dragon Lady
Dragonforce: reduced submissile rate, but increased damage to match.

- Moonfury
Moonbeam: added magic damage conversion.
Ricochet: added cold damage conversion; reduced bounces.
Enfilade: added magic damage conversion.
Moon Warrior: added life per kill.
Fairy Ring: added fire damage conversion.

- Bloodwitch
Magic Missiles: now a level 1 skill, damage adjusted accordingly.
Bloodstorm: increased damage.
Lava Pit is a new level 24 skill, replacing Death Ray.

- Huntress

Pounce: radius locked, but gains damage from str or dex.
Great Hunt: increased damage; changed graphics.

- Spirit of Vengeance: uses a more intelligent AI that follows the player; changed cast sound; is now invulnerable!
- War Spirit: now hits every 2 seconds instead of every second, but does double damage.

Assassin

- Batstrike: increased AR, greatly increased charge duration; bats now inherit PB.
- Crucify: may now shoot up to 8 extra missiles depending on nearby enemies.
- Queen of Blades: changed cast sound.

- Way of the Spider: rebalanced damage progression.

- Cryo Beam is a new level 6 skill, replacing Rune of Ice.
- Immolation Bomb: corrected damage progression.

- Psionic Storm is a new level 18 skill, replacing Rain of Bombs.

- Storm Crows: increased damage.
- Wychwind: reduced timer.
- Maelstrom Mk.II is a new level 18 skill, replacing Rocket Blade.

- Beacon: changed cast sound.
- Way of the Gryphon: doubled damage.

- Fortress: reduced starting timer and improved timer progression.
- Spirit Guide: aura refreshes faster; radius increased; missing FCR bonus added to description.

- Titan Strike: colourshift should now override armour colours.

- Increased run speed of spirits.
- Spirit Walk is a new level 24 skill, replacing Shaman's Path.
- Protector Spirit: now gets a lot of Bloodlust damage from level.

- Rebound: reduced axes per level; reduced damage.
- Screaming Eagle: now also slows the targets; increased radius.
- Overkill is a new level 24 skill, replacing Hawk Talons.

- Snake Stance: rebalanced damage progression.

- Wolf Stance: CB is now a self-synergy.

Oathbreaker Totem is a new level 18 skill.

- Famine: increased damage bonus.
- Buckshot: uses a new skill function to remove the need to click at the edge of the screen to get a focussed blast.

- Summon Jinn: Hellfire Aura radius increased.

Paladin

- Retaliate: radius locked, but now gains damage per strength.
- Hammerstrike is a new level 6 skill, replacing Holy Insanity.
- Merkabah: renamed from Edict of Forbiddance, and now also deals fire damage and converts damage to fire damage; radius locked, but now gains damage per strength.

- Searing Light: added physical damage component.
- Brimstone is a new level 12 skill, replacing Holy Trap.

- Shadowfiends: now also inherit Plague.

- Tainted Blood: now heals faster for each additional point spent, but is now hard pooint based.
- Mind Flay: now an explosion effect with no ND.
- Punisher: timer reduction is more severe per skill point.

- Rapture: now also increases cast rate; timer reduced per skill point, all the way to 0 timer; increased duration.

- Plague: greatly increased damage. Did NOT replace the skill. Boo hoo.

Sorceress

- Ice Queen
Ice Lance: increased freeze duration and missile speed.
Frigid Sphere: increased damage.
Ice Elementals: consolidated synergies, so you no longer need to max the entire cold tree; increased run speed; added +% defense aura (the other promised changes didn't work, sigh).

- Stormfury
Lightning Cascade: fixed desc error.
Nova Charge: improved graphics.
Warp Armor: avoid ramp is now slower, but linear.
Warp Armor: corrected desc.

- Sister
Living Flame is a new level 6 skill, replacing Fear of Fire.
Illumination: spell damage bonus is now linear.

- Witch
The poison tree is now more equal to the other trees:
* Duration mostly reduced
* Total damage reduced because of this
* Damage per second left the same or boosted.
* Now more spammable

- Arcane Torrent: now has a mana cost; now does damage based on full mana.
- Fixed huge unintended diminishing returns on Arcane Torrent and Mana Sweep.

- Mystic Blood is a new level 90 skill, replacing Full Force.
- Bladestorm moved up to level 24; fixed incorrectly high convert %.
- Baneblade is a new level 90 skill.

- Time Field: increased radius, is now again soft point based because Blizzard greatly disliked the concept of synergies on missile-carried curses.

Other

- Several skills added to the oskill list:
Call Leprechaun, Death Ray, Deathstrike, Dominate, Elvensong, Exploding Totem, Fear Bomb Totem, Fire Bolt Nova, Holy Trap, Horned God [currently disabled], Overkill, Rune of Ice, Soulshatter, Spiral Dance, Summon Darklings, Whirlpool.
- Also removed an oskill:
Liche Totem (aura state cannibalised for druid melee tree).

- The old 'melee druid oskills' (Feral Strike, Ravage, Thorn Field) now work with axes, maces and daggers, the same weapons as the shapeshifting trees.
- Feral Strike: removed block bonus.
- Thorn Field: now does sensible damage.

- Reduced mana cost of many oskills.
- Ancients' Hand: increased damage.
- Body of the Savior: reduced HP of resurrected corpse and removed Gift of Inner Fire.
- Fire Cannonade: item versions have reduced firing rate.

- Clubs are now maces.
- Maces are no longer headgear for crafting purposes.
- Fixed crash bug with some blunt weapons.
- Splash damage weapons now do full damage in their radius, up from 3/4.

Magic and rare items

- Added a number of new oskills.
- Added MORE PROCS OMGOMG.
- Added more maximum damage affixes, up to +1000 damage
- Shapeshifter weapons now spawn with up to +4 druid skills.
- Druid helms can now spawn with serious dexterity bonuses.

Runewords

- Split the throwing runewords between knives and axes.
- Made an attempt at fixing the issue this caused where you couldn't unequip your weapon, lol.

- Summon Jinn: now correctly freeze immune, as if it matters. Blood for the blood god! Skulls for the skull throne! Changes for the change log!

Sorceress

- Frigid Sphere: increased minimum damage. Feel free to declare it useless, though, because you don't realise that damage decreases with distance.
- Nova Charge: made it so you can see the screen. NO, the radius decrease is not a nerf, it did barely any damage at a dist-- oh screw it, RESPEC OUT ALREADY.

Items

Cube recipes

- Added lolrecipes to make quest items.

Runewords

- Astarte: now properly gives Fortress.

Monsters

- Attempted to make Dragon Eggs untargetable by minions to prevent them getting egg on their face. Instead, it seems the minions aren't targeted by the eggs now. *hums 'Ik kocht een ei, de melkboer zei...'*
- Lost Soul poison damage reduced to 1/4, but increased run speed and life.
- DID NOT TOUCH FAUZTINVILLE. GAAAAAAH.

The only one that is really noticable is the Shadows (skill level 30), because it is also the only monster made out of two pieces and therefore twice as laggy (CLoD skeletons were made out of 9 pieces...).

Paladin

- Black Sleep: corrected timer.
- Blood Thorns: no longer worthless - sorry, I meant to say it no longer has ND.
- Holy Trap: corrected synergy description.
- Slayer: removed irritating sound.
- Tainted Blood: reduced duration and therefore increased heal rate.

Sorceress

- Creeping Doom: fixed description; renamed back to Carpet of Spiders.
- Fear of Fire: timer is 10 seconds and decreases with hard points, down to 5.2 at 21, 4.0 at 28 etc.
- Forked Lightning: capped number of bolts at 8.
- Frigid Sphere: reduced cold damage for balance reasons.
- Ice Elementals: reduced Glacial Nova proc chance but increased damage and life.
- Lightning Cascade: increased damage.
- Lorenado: increased damage.
- Symbol of Esu: greatly increased life and mana heal.
- Time Field: reduced slow % to avoid hitting the cap early; reduced radius.
- Thunderstone: fixed bug that caused excessive damage.
- Swapped Arcane Fury and Symbol of Esu in the skill tree.

- Ber jewelcraft: reverted nerf, leech bonus now 1-2% up from 1%.

Barbarian

- Eagle Stance: now again soft point based, removed damage penalty.
- Fortress: mana cost frozen at 40.
- Screaming Eagle: reverted unpopular graphic.
- Shaman's Path: greatly improved Bloodlust damage bonus
- Snake Stance: corrected synergy description.
- Spirit Guide: boosted defense and reduced radius to match its role as a skill to encourage proper battle positioning (ie. right with the stupid minions in the middle of danger).
- Stormblast: damage increased from 1/4 to 1/2. It was a well balanced skill, and thus useless.

Druid

- Fire Fountain: slightly reduced mana cost.
- Hailstorm: no longer misfires if you don't click on the target.

Necromancer

- New skill: Summon Jinn replaces Necromantic Trance.

- Bend the Shadows: changed sound effect.
- Frostclaw Totem: replaced sound.
- Mana Tide Totem: replaced graphic to avoid overlay bug.
- Unholy Prayer: limited radius to enable melee contact; changed sound effect; changed icon.
- By popular demand, limited max number of minions to reduce maintenance:
> Shadows: 10
> Darklings: 15
> Rampagors: 5
> Lamia: 5
- Totems now properly get your -% enemy resists.

Paladin

- Black Sleep: is now an area effect spell.

- Energy Factor power increased, but now tapers off at very high energy investments to prevent damage overflow.
- The minion resistance cap is now +75%, up from 50% (and not 25%, liars).
- Slightly reduced mana gain per energy point of some mana-intensive characters to avoid mana overflow.

- All enemy-affecting resist pierce skills (except the assassin uberskill Phase Bomb) have been removed, leaving only item-based sources of -% resist (including Shadowfiends). This is because due to a bug in D2, they worked at full strength against immunities based on shield auras, making a lot of uberquests trivial to beat. Sorry, people.

- Shower of Rocks: now instead of the (bugged) physical resist pierce, it reduces enemy damage. This is because the proposed -% attack rating change was useless because you didn't bother doing the math or you did and concluded that -50% attack rating is slightly inferior to x2 defense so it's weak and gimped. Please abandon your melee barb. I want you to make a bombsin.
- Snake Stance: slowing effect is now a self-synergy.
- Spirit Guide: now also adds +40% total defense, +15% per hard point.

Necromancer

- Buckshot: QUAD RANGE.
- Deathstrike: doubled flat damage component, which isn't bugged.
- Famine: reduced ED% to prevent damage overflow.
- Fireheart Totem: to reduce lag, rate of fire divided by 4 but damage multipled by 4.

- All weapon damage skills with a flat damage component have been changed to add magic damage to compensate for the fact that flat damage is apparently affected by skill ED%, causing people to do about 100K more damage than intended which they never bothered to tell me even though I asked them to inform me if they overflowed the 1.12 damage cap so I could fix it, and instead just reverted to 1.10 without telling me so THEY would do more damage while everyone ELSE with 1.12 overflowed and would quit due to doing low damage and being useless.
- Corrected minion resists on Terror/Dest.

Amazon

- Blood Elementals are now Fire Elementals.
- Bloodstorm: reduced duration gain per level to prevent lag.

Barbarian

- Shower of Rocks: FIXED the BUG in the character sheet name...

Man, some of you must be feeling like a bleating SHEEP right now.

- Succubus types: LR death increases in power at higher difficulty levels.

Uberquests

- Increased stats of some high-end uberquest monsters.

Heroic levels

- Belial and Rodeo can now again be damaged with poison.
- Rodeo now has 1% chance to spawn if chosen, down from 5%.
- Belial now has 20% chance to spawn if chosen, up from 15%.

Drop rates

- The economic crisis has reached Sanctuary: gold drop chance reduced by 4/5.

Hirelings

- Changed a lot of skills; see the webpage.
- Doubled life and added poison length reduction.
- Mercs now use an invisible buff instead of passives to get their exp/stat bonus.
This should allow them to turn it right back on within a few battles after they die.

why? why did you replace apo? no! so, that's the reason why i will quit.
i finally found a concept that totally fits my playstyle, is something individual and really fun, my own personal creation and you destroy it. god damn. hate.
with reduction of energy factor of UE, i finally can forget about oskill sorc. thanks.

A. You can use your old oskill items.

B. Level 70 Apoc didn't really do much more damage than level 30 due to diminishing returns, but it sure cost a hell of a lot more mana. This gave rise to 'oskills suck' type replies. Now it still does like 75% of its original damage at a third of the mana cost.

well, anyway, i was happy with what it was. i liked my uber-poser-lvl-70-apocalypse just to show off. and it worked great with feedback damage. apo until mana orb is empty, cast maxed mana sweep: everything dead.
maybe it does 75% damage with 1/3 mana cost, but you will have maybe lvl 30 apocalypse (only the magister) and not lvl 70, and so damage will be a lot lower than before.
maybe uber fcr-aposorc-is possible now, but not what i was aiming for in my project. hm....

I made some calculations over in your oskill thread. It does almost 80% of its damage at level 35 as opposed to 70, but at half the mana. Replace that Bartuc's with something useful and you come out ahead.

The reason it was replaced is because the extremely high spell level resulted in insane mana costs without really adding much to damage, making the skill actually less useful. (Mana Sweep... yeah... casting this every other turn doesn't make you an Apoc sorc anymore)

yeah, read it, now it should finally be freed of casting mana sweep every second. but as backup =)
didnt know about the diminishing returns thingy of apo, sorry for that.
thought damage would just be 1/2 while 1/2 mana costs, but i'll go on tomorrow, at first : time for bed!

Gemwords, Jewelwords Runewords.... so much to learn, my fragil little mind might explode... to think that a mod like this changes the whole factor of diablo 2 is a bit insane... damn then again.. crazy in a fun kind of way, you should think of contacting blizzard, your ideas are pure genius.

I played Median 2008 last December and was so overwhelmed and discouraged by all the new content that I quit. Several months later, I came back and started playing MXL and all those crazy concepts finally sank in. It took a long time.
